Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is a Nintendo Switch game based upon a series of short challenges from a number of Nintendo Entertainment System games, including The Legend of Zelda, inspired by the original 1990 Nintendo World Championships.

Gameplay

Similar to the NES Remix games, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition uses thirteen Nintendo Entertainment System games as the source material for short speedrun challenges. There are three modes:

  • Speedrun Mode is a single-player mode, purely against the clock.
  • Party Mode is a multiplayer mode, with up to eight players racing each other.
  • World Championships Mode allows Nintendo Switch Online members "to submit their best times in five challenges that rotate each week and compete for a spot on the global leaderboard"
